
No. 19 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 3 Mississippi State in Tight, 4-1 Decision

The doubles point turned into a major battle on all three courts, but the Bulldogs (6-0) earned an early edge with a 6-4 victory on court two. Courts one and three advanced into tiebreakers however, and while the Green Wave (4-2) held a 3-0 lead on court one, Mississippi State earned a 7-1 victory in the breaker on court three to slide in front, 1-0, in the overall match.
The indoor facility at The Falls possesses just four courts, allowing just the first four singles matches to be played, with the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches commencing once two matches have concluded. Mississippi State earned a pair of straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 to push Tulane to the brink, but sophomore Hamish Stewart got the Green Wave on the scoreboard with a tough, three-set triumph at No. 3.
The Bulldogs were able to clinch the match at No. 4 however, earning a three-set, comeback victory.
Senior Tyler Schick was ahead by one set and led, 5-2, in the second frame at No. 5 at the time of Mississippi's clinch, while sophomore Akos Kotorman was even at 4-4 in the first set at No. 6.
Tulane makes a quick turnaround to face Texas Tech on its home courts on Sunday, February 10. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
