Jul 24, 2019 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the third consecutive year, the Tulane baseball team has been honored with the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2018-19 season the organization announced this week.
The Green Wave, coming off of a 30-win season in 2019, is one of 21 schools in the country to have made the cut in each of the last three years running. Tulane was also one of five schools from the American Athletic Conference to earn the award.
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were recognized with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2018-19 academic year.
This year, 296 college and high school programs received this year's award, as 95 high school teams along with 201 programs from the NCAA Div. I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college levels were recognized.
Just last week, 22 members of the baseball team were named to the American Athletic Conference's All-Academic Team, as to be eligible for the list a nominee must have competed in an American Athletic Conference sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters of academic work.
