NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team heads to Athens, Ga., to compete in the 52nd Annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.
The first of three days of action starts Friday, September 27 with two rounds of doubles slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT., followed by one round of singles matches. Tulane will send four student-athletes into the draws, including seniors Ewan Moore, Luis Erlenbusch and Dane Esses, as well as junior Hamish Stewart.
For the Green Wave's third weekend of the fall season, student-athletes from 12 schools will compete in a 64-player singles field and a 32-team doubles tournament. This year's event is broken into four 16-player compass draws for singles and two 16-team compass draws for doubles.
In addition to Tulane, schools competing in the event include UCF, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Illinois, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Texas and Wake Forest.
In the ITA rankings, Moore ranks No. 36 nationally in singles, while Erlenbusch (No. 61) and Stewart (No. 110) are also listed.
Moore posted a perfect 4-0 mark at last weekend's Gamecock Invitational at the University of South Carolina, where he defeated three ranked opponents en route to winning the top draw. Erlenbusch went 3-1 in a separate draw, collecting wins over the country's No. 38 and No. 51players, respectively.
