Lawson Receives Second AAC Weekly Honor Roll Selection
Jan 13, 2020 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS - For the second time this season, Tulane men's basketball graduate student K.J. Lawson has been picked to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll in an announcement by the league office Monday.
Lawson becomes the third Green Wave (10-6, 2-2 AAC) player to receive the honor multiple times this season, as he was also recognized on Dec. 2. Teshaun Hightower (Nov. 18 and Dec. 23) and Jordan Walker (Nov. 11 and Nov. 25) have also received two honor roll nods, respectively.
The Memphis native averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals, while shooting 50 percent beyond the 3-point arc in two road games for Tulane last week. He filled the box score and recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds to go with six assists and a career-high six steals in Saturday's 65-51 win at Temple. On Wednesday at UConn, the 2017 AAC Rookie of the Year scored 16 points and went 3-for-3 from 3-point range.
This season, Lawson leads the team in 3-pointers made (26) and assists per game (2.7) while ranking second on the roster in scoring (14.2 PPG) and rebounding (5.8 RPG).
Tulane is back at home for the first of two consecutive home games, beginning with UCF on Tuesday, January 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on the WatchESPN app.
