NEW ORLEANS - Following strong efforts in Tulane's first two league games of the season, graduate Christion Thompson has been selected to the American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in an announcement by the league office Monday.
Thompson becomes the fourth different Green Wave player to be named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll this season along with Jordan Walker (twice), Teshaun Hightower (twice) and K.J. Lawson.
A Gonzales, La., native, Thompson averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists and shot 16-for-18 (.889) at the free throw line in Tulane's first week of conference play. Last Monday night, Thompson scored 17 points with five rebounds and four assists at ninth-ranked Memphis.
Thompson currently leads the Green Wave in rebounding (6.4), assists (2.5), steals (2.0) and field goal percentage (.452) while ranking third on the team in scoring (13.1).
Tulane returns to the hardwood Wednesday, January 8 for a road contest at UConn. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. (CT), at Gampel Pavilion, and the game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
