NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane swimming and diving team (1-0) is back in action this weekend, heading to Houston, Texas for a two-day dual meet at Rice.
The Green Wave open action on Friday at 3:30Â p.m. before continuing the meet on Saturday at 10Â a.m. at the Rice Aquatics Center Natatorium. The event will not be open to spectators.Â
"I am looking forward to seeing some technical improvements from our last meet," head coach Leah Stancil said. "We never want to take for granted an opportunity to race. This should be fun."
In the team's first meet of the season on Oct. 17, Tulane defeated Delta State 201-42, finishing first in all events except one while also taking the top three spots in seven of 13 total events.
Danielle Titus, Kate McDonald, Hailey Roberti and Iza Pelka make up team one in this weekend's first event — the 400-yard medley relay — while Riley Hendrix, Christiana Williams, Mya Drost-Parra and Drew Petereit make up team two.
Next up, Noa Heron, Jennifer Gougelmann and Edie Newman will compete in the 1000-yard freestyle. Pelka, Lilly Byrne, Winter Craig and Madison Cummings will swim next in the 200-yard freestyle.
Hendrix, Courtney Barker, Jeni Griffin and Ashley Carollo are set to compete in the 50-yard freestyle, followed by McDonald, Williams, Gianna Spremullo and Autumn Keats-O'Connor in the 200-yard IM.
The 200-yard butterfly is up next for the Olive and Blue, with Craig, Drost-Parra and Roberti representing Tulane in the event. Barker, Petereit and Griffin are set to swim next in the 100-yard freestyle.
Carollo, Spremullo, Cummings and Danielle Titus will hit the water next in the 200-yard backstroke, followed by Pelka, Heron, Gougelmann and Newman in the 500-yard freestyle.
McDonald, Williams, Keats-O'Connor and Spremullo will keep the day rolling in the 200-yard breaststroke, before Barker, Titus, Petereit and Hendrix (A) and Heron, Roberti, Gougelmann and Byrne (B) wrap-up the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Tulane's last matchup against Rice was at last season's Dual-A-Pa-Looza in Miami, Florida. The Green Wave fell to the Owls, 76-123.
