Nov 11, 2020 | Women's Golf
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane women's golf head coach Stew Burke announced the signing of Matilde Innocenti for the 2025 recruiting class.
"I am excited to welcome Matilde to the Green Wave family," Burke said. "Matilde has had a great 2020 competing in Europe and quickly becoming one of the top junior golfers. I was extremely impressed with her play during the final two rounds in the European Ladies Amateur Championship, as she moved up the leaderboard and moved amongst the elite lady golfers in Europe. I am looking forward to helping her develop her game at the collegiate level and alongside a top recruiting class bring future success to the program."
Innocenti comes to Tulane ranked No. 479 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She has claimed three wins in the World Amateur Golf Ranking Events, including the Amalga Trophy with a three-round total of six-under. Innocenti has also finished within the top 10 at World Amateur Golf Ranking events on seven occasions. She placed ninth at the Portuguese International Ladies Championship.
The Florance, Italy, native closed the European Ladies Amateur Championship with rounds of 68 and 66 to finish in the Top 20. Innocenti was a member of the Italian Girls National Team at the 2020 European Girls Team Championship in Slovakia.
The Green Wave will return to the course Feb. 8 at the Lamkin Invitational. San Diego State will host the event in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
