Tulane Tied for Seventh After Round One of American Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Through the first 18 holes of the 2026 American Conference Championship Tulane women's golf sits tied for seventh among the 11 teams competing at Southern Hills Plantation. The Green Wave carded a team total 302 (+14) on Monday to hold a tie with Wichita State and Memphis.

The Wave tied for the tournament lead on par 3s at the end of the opening day of competition shooting one under par on those holes as a team in the first round. As a team Tulane finished the opening round on Monday with seven total birdies and 57 pars.

Sophomore Francesca Pompa paced the Green Wave on Monday shooting a 73 (+1) in her first round to end the day tied for 11th in the field. She also led Tulane with 13 pars, which tied for 10th overall, and tied for the team lead with a pair of birdies.

The duo of Sophia Chen and Sophia Macias were the next up on the leaderboard for the Wave after the first round. Chen and Macias each carded a 76 (+4) to close the day tied for 30th overall. The pair paced Tulane on par 3s each shooting one under par on those holes which was tied for second in the entire field.

Gabriella Gilrowski was the next player in the standings for the Green Wave as she shot a 77 (+5) to land 35th following the opening day of competition. Gilrowski led the team on par 5s shooting averaging 4.75 strokes on those holes and tied for the team lead with Pompa sinking a pair of birdies.

Rounding out the group for Tulane was Cristina Albertazzi who closed the round in 45th on the leaderboard with an 18-hole score of 79 (+7).

UP NEXT
The Green Wave will return to the course at Southern Hills Plantation for the second round of the American Championship on Tuesday. Tulane will be paired with Memphis and Wichita State for round two teeing off on hole 10 beginning at 7:50 a.m. CT.
