Men's Tennis Hosts Virginia Tech Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team sets its sight on building on Friday's win at LSU with a home match against Virginia Tech on Sunday, February 2. First serve is set for noon at the City Park Tennis Center as part of a head-to-head doubleheader with the Green Wave women's team's home match against UAB.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
The Hokies (1-2) enter Sunday's contest coming off back-to-back losses in Tuscaloosa, Ala., last weekend to LSU (4-3) and Alabama (4-2). Virginia Tech is led by its 55th-ranked doubles team comprising Henrik Korsgaard and Brandon Perez. Mitch Harper leads the team with a 3-0 record this spring at the No. 2 spot in the singles lineup, while Carlo Donato holds the same mark at the No. 5 position.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Green Wave possess three players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by senior Ewan Moore at No. 32. Senior Dane Esses holds the No. 47 spot, while junior Hamish Stewart stands at No. 90.
STEWART STAYS HOT
Hamish Stewart owns a 5-0 record playing No. 2 singles this spring, including a win over the nation's No. 18 player, to piece together five straight wins to start the 2020 spring season.
DOUBLES DOMINANCE
Juniors Hamish Stewart and Akos Kotorman combine as Tulane's best doubles tandem, and have won 10 consecutive dual doubles matches dating back to the 2019 spring season. The duo posted an 11-1 record at the No. 2 spot in the lineup last spring, including a 3-0 mark against American Athletic Conference foes.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Tulane will play a minimum of 10 teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2019, including Stanford, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, UCF and USF. Texas claimed the 2019 NCAA title, while TCU reached the quarterfinals. California, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Stanford all reached the round of 16.
