Tulane Finishes Ninth at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Tulane University women's golf team finished ninth at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational with a total score of 37-over 901 at the Sewailo Golf Club.

"We let a really good round slip late today, but I'm pleased with how everyone hung in there," Green Wave head coach Stew Burke said. "We've got a lot of things to work on, but we're improving and that's great to see."

Freshman Carlota Palacios led the Green Wave as she shot seven-over 223 for the tournament to finish tied for 24th. She closed the tournament with a two-over 74. She had three birdies on the day and eight for the tournament.

Sophomore Isabella Cardenas finished tied for 29^th with a total score of eight-over 224. She was three-over 75 in the third round with two birdies. She registered six birdies for the tournament.

Senior Haydyn Gibson logged a three-over 75 in the third round to place tied for 38^th with a total score of 10-over 226. She had two birdies in the final round and a team-high 11 for the tournament.

Senior Gabrielle Correia closed the tournament tied for 46th at 13-over 229. She recorded the Olive and Blue's best round of the day at two-over 74. Correia had seven birdies over the three rounds with four coming in round three.

Freshman Sandra Vazquez finished the tournament strong with a two-over 74 with four birdies. She placed 57^th with a total score of 18-over 234. Vazquez sank nine birdies over the three rounds.

Freshman Hanna Liu placed 61st with a total score of 20-over 236. She had six birdies in the three rounds.

Host No. 10 Arizona was the only team under-par for the tournament and took home the title with a team score of 18-under 846. The Wildcats' Kailie Vongsaga won the individual title at nine-under 207.

Tulane will be back in action at The Bruzzy on March 30-31 in Frisco, Texas.
