Tulane Completes Day One Competition at CSCAA Championships: Final Two Days Canceled

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eight Tulane University swimmers wrapped up competition Thursday at the 2020 CSCAA Championships and led the Green Wave to a 13th-place finish with 81 points.Â

The event was held on the campus of Cleveland State University at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
Â
No spectators were be permitted at the meet as a precautionary measure to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Following day one, meet officials from the CSCAA announced that the final two days of the event would be canceled in response to concerns surrounding the spread of the coronavirus which marked the final day of competition for Green Wave swimming and diving in the 2019-20 season.Â

Junior Kate McDonald highlighted the day, as she posted a pair of top 10 finishes, placing seventh in the 50-yard breaststroke (28.81) and ninth in the 200-yard IM (2:04.22)

Sophomore Noa Heron posted a strong performance in the 500-yard freestyle, as she clocked a time of 4:53.81.Â

Tulane's 400-yard medley relay squad of freshman Ashley Carollo, McDonald, freshman Maya Drost-Parra and junior Courtney Barker turned in an impressive performance as they placed 12th, finishing in a time of 3:46.04.

The Green Wave also received a solid outing from their 200-yard freestyle relay team which took 15th and posted a time of 1:35.31. The team featured Barker, freshman Madison Cummings, sophomore Iza Pelka and Carollo.

WHAT'S NEXT
Earlier today, the NCAA announced the cancelation of all winter championships. Tulane swimmers Olivia Johnson and Lilly Byrne had qualified to compete in the NCAA championships and were scheduled to compete at the University of Georgia prior today's announcement.Â
