May 6, 2026 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University swimming and diving program, under the direction of head coach Amanda Caldwell, announced the hiring of Kat Mueller as the program's Assistant Swimming Coach.
Â
"Kat is a tremendous addition to our program and someone who immediately elevates the standard of what we do every day," Coach Caldwell expressed in excitement. "As a former student-athlete at Purdue University, she understands exactly what our women are navigating and brings a level of relatability and credibility that builds instant trust.
Â
Her experience at Marshall reflects her ability to develop athletes, improve performance, and contribute to a strong team culture. Kat has a sharp understanding of training, race execution, and how to communicate in a way that drives both accountability and confidence.
Â
She is a true Wave Maker who meets student-athletes where they are and moves them forward. I'm excited for the impact she will have on our swimmers and the continued rise of our program."
Â
Mueller joined the Green Wave after being at Marshall University. She began in 2024 as Assistant Swim Coach, after graduating from Purdue in 2023 while being co-captain of their swim & dive program. She holds a bachelor's of arts in Social Studies Teacher Education.
Marshall finished the 2025-26 season with a 4-1 record under Mueller's assistance. The team finished out their year at the American Championship Finals with athlete Elyse Wood setting a program record and winning sliver in the 100 Freestyle.
Â
"I am incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the Swim and Dive staff at Tulane University. The program's commitment to excellence on and off the pool deck is something I deeply admire," Mueller explained enthusiastically. "I would like to sincerely thank Athletic Director David Harris and Head Coach Amanda Caldwell for their trust in me. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the program and the Tulane community at large."
Â
Tulane's swimming and diving program had another strong season in finishing fifth overall at the 2026 American Conference Swimming Championships with 905.50 points.
