Men's Basketball Tabbed February NOLA Built Team of the Month
Mar 5, 2020 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Just one week after participating in a successful community service event with Samaritan's Feet, the Tulane University men's basketball team was named the athletic department's NOLA Built Team of the Month for February.
"We are proud of head coach Ron Hunter, his staff and student-athletes for giving back to the New Orleans community and really showing what it means to be NOLA Built," assistant athletics director for student-athlete enhancement Dr. Cornell Sneed said. "Not many other men's basketball coaches in the country would organize an event like this in the middle of conference play."
Hunter organized a Samaritan's Feet shoe distribution that brought together not only men's basketball team members, coaches and staff, but also student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators from around the athletics department. Their efforts provided hundreds of shoes for the grade school children of the Kingsley House in New Orleans.
"Our city needs this," Hunter said. "We get to bless these kids right here in the city. This is my faith. This is what I believe in. Tulane has been great in their support."
Up next, the Tulane hosts UConn on Sunday, March 8 for Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
