Oct 13, 2021 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University men's tennis competes in the five-day ITA Southern Region Championships beginning on Thursday in Auburn, Alabama.
There will be 14 other teams along with the Green Wave participating in the tournament including Alabama, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Auburn, Jacksonville State, Louisiana, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB.
"We're excited to be playing regionals this weekend, especially after the rocky start we got off to this semester with the hurricane and displacement," said head coach Mark Booras. "It's very exciting to be back on the courts at school. The guys have been working very hard the past couple of weeks and are starting to find their groove again. We are looking forward to stepping up to the competition this weekend."
Thursday and Friday will be qualifying rounds in singles; the main draws for both singles and doubles begin Saturday.
Competing in the qualifying round for Tulane will be Luka Petrovic, Fynn Kuenkler, Luc Hoeijmans, Charlie Barry, Alex Bancila, Benji Jacobson and Rafael De Alba. Billy Suarez will begin play in the main draw.
The doubles pairing for the Green Wave will be Suarez and Kuenkler, Barry and Jacobson, Petrovic and Hoeijmans and Bancila and De Alba.
Play begins Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.; Sunday, Monday and Tuesday start times will be set later.
