
Volleyball Hits the Road for a Pair of Matches

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University volleyball team will travel to Greenville, North Carolina and Cincinnati this weekend for a pair of matchups. The Green Wave head into the weekend after dropping a five set match to SMU on Sunday. Tulane will suit up to take on East Carolina Friday night and Cincinnati Sunday afternoon.Â

Tulane has an all-time record of 4-29 against Cincinnati. Jim Barnes and the Green Wave took the last meeting in 2019. The Wave managed to shut down future Gold Medalist Jordan Thompson, holding her to a .067 hitting percentage, one of the lowest in her career. The Olive and Blue have never won a match in Cincinnati and strive to change that this weekend.Â

Tulane was picked fourth in 2021 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, returning nearly the entire roster from the spring 2021 season. East Carolina was selected 10th while Cincinnati was picked to finish right below Tulane at fifth. After eight weeks of play Tulane currently sits in a four-way tie for fourth in the AAC. Meanwhile East Carolina sits in eighth at 3-5 and Cincinnati is tied with Houston for second spot.

The Green Wave picked up two preseason all-conference team selections in seniors Lexie Douglas and Kayla Dinkins. Tulane has also earned four AAC weekly honor roll selections in Michelle Urquhart, Anna Davis, Douglas, Dinkins and Mackenzie Martin.
