Volleyball Picks up It’s 13th Win with Offensive Show

GREENVILLE, N.C.- Tulane Volleyball picked up its sixth conference win in five sets (25-21,25-23,25-27,17-25,15-6) on Friday evening against East Carolina.
The Green Wave improve to 13-8 overall and 6-3 in conference with tonight's win. Tulane out killed the ECU 73 to 59 and hit .329 with 70 assists and 60 digs.
Five starters had double-digit kills in the match Lexie Douglas, Yvette Burcescu, Kayla Dinkins, Anna Davis and Michelle Urquhart. Douglas broke her career high number f kills in a match tonight with 26. Before tonight the most she had was 22, which came in the spring against SMU. She also had her high hitting percentage of the season at .468 and tied her career high in points, 28.5. Burcescu had 12 kills and hit just under .400. Dinkins, Davis and Urquhart each claimed 11 kills tonight.
Setter Taylor Henigsman set 62 assists for a career high of her own. The Senior also added nine digs and two blocks.
On the defensive end newly appointed Libero Mackenzie Martin did most of the heavy lifting with 15 digs, Jillian Dits and Sophia Ervanian added a combined 16.
Tulane took the first set 25-21. The Green Wave had an offensive power that the Pirates couldn't handle. The Wave had 17 kills with one ace while hitting a .455 mark.
Set two followed the same blueprint. The Wave took the set 25-23 with 8 kills. Tulane hit .455 in the back-and-forth set. Tulane regained the lead with three straight point to end the match.
Sets three and four went to the Pirates by score 27-25 and 25-17.
Set five was all Wave from start to finish. With eight kills and a staggering .545 hitting percentage the set went final 5-6.
The Green Wave return to action Sunday Oct. 24 to take on Cincinnati in the Queen City. First serve is set for noon and will be aired on ESPN+.
