Volleyball Takes in a Pair of Matches In Florida

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University volleyball team will travel to Southern Florida this weekend for a pair of matchups. The Green Wave open week seven in Tampa to take of the Bulls of USF Friday and head farther down the sunshine state for a contest with UCF on Sunday.

Tulane meets USF for the first time this season after the Wave split the wins 1-1 with the Bulls last season. Although Tulane doesn't not hold the overall advantage in the series with USF (8-31.) head coach Jim Barnes has a 3-4 record against Bulls since his time Uptown.

Tulane has an all-time record of 10-21 against the raining conference champions.  The Green Wave dropped both matches to the Golden Knights last season.

RANKINGS
Tulane was picked fourth in 2021 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, returning nearly the entire roster from the spring 2021 season. The two competitors this weekend seventh (USF) while UCF the reigning conference champions were picked to finish first. After six weeks of play Tulane currently tied for third in the AAC while USF and UCF claim spots the bottom and lead spots.

AWARDS
The Green Wave picked up two preseason all-conference team selections in seniors Lexie Douglas and Kayla Dinkins. Tulane has also earned four AAC weekly honor roll selections in Michelle Urquhart, Anna Davis, Douglas and Dinkins.

Douglas is 78 attacks away from moving into fourth on the all-time career attacks list at Tulane.
Douglas was one of five unanimous preseason selections across the conference.
