
Volleyball Falls to Cincinnati in Four Sets

NEW ORLEANS โย In its first match of the weekend, the Tulane Green Wave volleyball team went toe-to-toe with the Cincinnati Bearcats in a four-set thriller on Friday evening.
The Green Wave would lose the first two sets, 24-26 and 23-25, before taking the third set 25-23 and then falling in the fourth 20-25.
It was as evenly matched as they come with Tulane (15-12) totaling 51 kills and hitting at clip of .222 and Cincinnati (15-8) tallying 60 kills hitting at a clip of .231.
Freshman Michele Urquhart led the way for the Green Wave, with 14 kills and a .243 hitting clip. Right behind her was senior Kayla Dinkins with 13 kills and an impressive .414 clip herself. Freshman Genevieve Perry had a career night grabbing seven kills and three blocks in her first conference game.
It was back and forth from the get-go as the first set saw seven lead changes and nine ties. The Wave's final lead of the match came at 23-22, before the Bearcats would seal the deal and take the set 26-24.
Set two was a clone of the first with another battle to the finish. A late four-point run capped by a kill from freshman Genevieve Perry would bring the score within one at 21-22,ย but the Wave couldn't hold on as the Bearcats would go on to take the second set 23-25.
Cincinnati dominated the start of the fourth, going on a 6-1 run to open it up. The Olive and Blue however, would mount yet another comeback, going on a 4-0 run to tie the game up at 12. However, at a hitting clip of only .079 the Green Wave failed to hold off the Bearcats dropping the fourth set by their biggest deficit of the night 25-20.
