The Green Wave and the Lions are familiar foes as this will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs all-time. The Olive and Blue hold a 15-6 advantage over Southeastern in the series history including an 11-game win streak over the Lions. The last meeting between the two teams ended in Tulane's favor as the Green Wave won 70-54 on Dec. 19, 2020.
Entering her 28th year at the helm of the Green Wave, head coach Lisa Stockton has never lost to the Lions of Southeastern. Stockton has led Tulane to a 6-0 record against Southeastern including a 4-0 record at home.
Ten players return from a season ago for the Olive and Blue including four starters. All-American Athletic Conference honoree Krystal Freeman highlights the list of returners after she averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Green Wave last season. Baylor transfer Moon Ursin headlines the four newcomers joining the experienced roster for Tulane for the 2021-22 season.
Tulane is coming off a 79-54 win in its only exhibition game of the preseason against Loyola-New Orleans. Four players scored double figures for the Wave as Kaila Anderson led the way with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.
Southeastern finished with an 11-8 record overall and 10-5 in the Southland Conference in 2020-21. The Lions bring back their top two scorers from last season in Morgan Carrier and Hailey Giaratano. The former averaged 12.3 points and 1.7 rebounds for Southeastern while the latter posted 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Lions.
Following their competition against Southeastern, the Green Wave will face their first road test of the young season on Sunday, Nov. 14, as they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to play the Crimson Tide.
