
Women's Track and Field Approaches Final H-Town SpeedCity Series Meet

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's track and field team is set to finish out the last of three H-Town SpeedCity Series meets on Saturday, February 13 at the the University of Houston.
Eight teams will compete in the women's events held on Saturday including Cincinnati, Houston, SFA, SMU, Temple, Tulane, UCF and USF.
The field events will begin at 10am with the weigh throw, shot put and high jump. Beginning at noon will be the pole vault followed by the long jump. At 2 p.m., will be the triple jump.
The track events will start at 1:30 p.m., with the semifinal for the 60m, followed by the 60m hurdles semifinal. Next up will be the 400m. After that, the final for the 60m hurdles will begin and the final for 60m will follow. Next will be the 200m and then the 3000m. Closing out the running events will be the 4x400m relay.
Trina Malej brought a powerful performance in the triple jump last time in Houston, winning with a distance of 12.58m. This weekend, she will be again competing in the triple jump looking for another win.
Kyah Loyd earned an impressive time of 8.40 in the 60m hurdles and will be attempting to improve on that time this weekend in Houston.
The Green Wave earned points in the pole vault last week with Kristina Leggas heading the front with a distance of 3.80m. Leggas will again contend in the pole vault joined by Nastja Modic and Kate Sander.
The Green Wave has put forth a strong showing in the past two H-Town SpeedCity Series Meets and look to finish strong this Saturday. Two weeks ago, at the previous H-Town SpeedCity Series, the team earned wins and new records in numerous events. In Kansas, Migle Muraskaite and Kristen O'Handley performed remarkably in the pentathlon, as Muraskaite set the new standard in program history. Both Muraskaite and O'Handley will be competing in multiple events this weekend.
