
Swimming & Diving Earns Four Top-Five Finishes on Day One of AAC Championship

DALLAS — The Tulane swimming and diving team recorded four top-five finishes on Thursday in the American Athletic Conference Championship, totaling 156 points after one day of action.
Junior Noa Heron finished fifth in the 500-freestyle finals, earning a season-best time of 4:52.04 in the race.
The Green Wave's first swimmer to finish in the 200-yard IM was senior Kate McDonald, recording a time of 2:01.86. Freshman Gianna Spremullo was next up for Tulane, earning a sixth-place finish at 2:01.94.
The team's 400-yard medley relay team, comprised of freshman Danielle Titus, McDonald, sophomore Mya Drost-Parra and senior Courtney Barker, finished third with a time of 3:41.73. That time marks the sixth-best in program history.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Tulane's team of Titus, Barker, Pelka and freshman Riley Hendrix, recorded a fourth-place finish at 1:34.23.
Six student-athletes earned career-best times on Friday.Â
Freshman Winter Craig recorded a time of 5:12.07 in the 500-yard freestyle while Hendrix notched a time of 23.79 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Also earning a career-best time on day one of the championship was Titus, with a time of 2:07.80 in the 200 IM prelims.
Freshman Jennifer Gougelmann recorded her best time yet at Tulane in the 500-yard freestyle finals at 5:04.37.
Green Wave newcomers, in Spremullo and Christiana Williams, finished with respective career-best times of 2:01.94 and 2:08.25 in the 200-yard IM finals.
Houston leads the way with 307 points after day one, followed by SMU with 240 and Cincinnati with 189.
Tulane will be back in action on Friday as the team readies for day two of the AAC Championship, beginning with the swimming prelims at 10 a.m.
