Men's Tennis Travels to Conference Foe Memphis

NEW ORLEANS - The 30th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face their second American Athletic Conference foe of the season on Saturday, March 13 at No. 29 Memphis. First serves are scheduled for 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (7-5) suffered a tough, 4-3 setback against No. 35 Texas Tech in a neutral site matchup in Dallas on March 7. The Green Wave won the doubles point, but the Red Raiders stormed back with four singles wins, including the deciding match on court six in three sets.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
The Tigers (5-4) will host just their second home match of the spring, but have lost three straight entering Saturday's matchup including a 4-1 setback at No. 26 Oklahoma State in their most recent outing on March 9. James Story leads the team witha 5-2 record at No. 1 singles, while Memphis' doubles teams have been particularly strong with a combined 17-5 (.773) combined record.
LAST TIME THEY MET – APRIL 7, 2019
Despite dropping the doubles point, Tulane responded with four singles wins to complete a 4-3 comeback in on the road over the Tigers. The Green Wave collected straight-set wins on courts one, two and five, respectively, before Dane Esses closed out a three-set win on court four to clinch the match.
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest ITA team rankings released on March 9, the Green Wave are ranked No. 30 in the national poll. The Wave possess two players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by senior Hamish Stewart at No. 40 and fifth-year senior Ewan Moore at No. 53.
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in nine of its 12 matches this season and own a combined 21-10 overall record. Stewart and Moore are 8-4 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while freshman Billy Suarez and senior Akos Kotorman are 7-3 playing at the No. 2 position.
AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Hamish Stewart was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 16 for the fourth time in his career after receiving the recognition once as a junior in 2020 and twice in 2019 as a sophomore.
