Men's Tennis Ready for Dallas Doubleheader

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team travels to Dallas, Texas to play its second doubleheader of the season against SMU and Oral Roberts on Saturday, March 6 at the SMU Tennis Complex.
The Green Wave (6-4) will face their first American Athletic Conference foe of the season, the Mustangs, at 10 a.m., before taking on the Golden Eagles at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane suffered a tough, 4-3 home loss to sixth-ranked Texas on Feb. 27 in City Park. The Green Wave dropped the doubles point, but secured three of the first five singles matches to draw even, 3-3, before the Longhorns earned a three-set win on court three to clinch. Fifth-year senior Ewan Moore, ranked 53rd in singles, bounced back from a tough first-set defeat in a tiebreaker to win the final two frames, 6-2, 6-4, to outlast 57th-ranked Siem Woldeab on court two, while freshmen Billy Suarez and Rafael de Alba won in straight sets on courts four and five, respectively.
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs (9-6) enter Saturday's match ranked 46th nationally in the ITA team poll. They are riding a three-match winning streak and own a 7-1 record at home this spring following their most recent victory over UT-Arlington on March 1, 6-1. Julian Steinhausen leads SMU with a 9-2 record playing at five different spots in the lineup this spring, while Liam Krall owns an 8-4 mark, including a 5-2 ledger at the No. 2 position.
LAST TIME THEY MET – FEBRUARY 16, 2020
Tulane picked up its sixth straight win over SMU with a 6-1 win in City Park. The Mustangs won the doubles point with victories on courts one and three respectively, but the Green Wave swept all six singles matches.
SCOUTING ORAL ROBERTS
The Golden Eagles (0-6) will play against UT-Dallas on Friday ahead of Saturday's match against the Green Wave. Three of their losses have come against American Athletic Conference teams, including a pair of 7-0 losses against Tulsa and a 7-0 defeat against Wichita State.

Tulane earned a 4-2 win over Oral Roberts in Tulsa. Doubles was not played due to weather concerns, but the Green Wave picked up four singles wins by Joe Young at No. 1, Coby Kramer-Golinkoff at No. 6 and Adam Bernstein and Takuma Ohashi on courts three and five, respectively.
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest ITA team rankings released on March 3, the Green Wave are ranked No. 30 in the national poll. The Wave possess two players listed in the ITA's national singles rankings, led by senior Hamish Stewart at No. 40 and fifth-year senior Ewan Moore at No. 53.
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in eight of its 10 matches this season and own a combined 19-6 overall record. Stewart and Moore are 8-2 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while freshman Billy Suarez and senior Akos Kotorman are 6-2 playing at the No. 2 position.
AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Hamish Stewart was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 16 for the fourth time in his career after receiving the recognition once as a junior in 2020 and twice in 2019 as a sophomore.
