Track and Field Finishes Day One of AAC Outdoor Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tulane track and field team began the first day of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of South Florida on Friday afternoon.
To highlight the first day, Louise Jones qualified for the finals in the 400m hurdles by finishing eighth place with a personal-best mark of 1:01.66. Jessica Duckett was close behind in ninth with a time of 1:02.21.
To begin the morning, Danielle Line placed 15th in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.91 m. In the javelin throw, Hannah Patrick earned a sixth-place finish with a distance of 45.13m for a new personal best.
Hunter Robinson and Maya Harewood had a successful run in the 200m dash prelims. Robinson finished in 15th with a time of 24.19 and Harewood posted a 17th-place showing with a time of 24.31.
The meet will start back up on Saturday, as the field events begin at 3 p.m. with the long jump followed by the shot put. The pole vault is next up at 4:30 p.m. The heptathlon will resume with the long jump at 11 a.m., followed by the javelin and 800m to finish.
The track events will begin at 5:25 p.m. with the 100m hurdles trials followed by the women's and the men's 800m trials. The 400m dash is next up for the women and then the men to close the second evening.
For the meet's conclusion on Sunday, the field events will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the triple jump and the discus. The high jump at 4:30 p.m. will be the final field event.
Track events begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 400m relay, followed by the finals for the women's and men's 1500m run. The 100m hurdles final is next at 5:10 p.m. Then, the 400m dash final for the men and women will start up. After that will be the finals for the women and men's 800m at 6 p.m. followed by the 400m hurdles. The 200m dash finals for the women and men come next at 6:30 p.m. Track events will conclude for the Green Wave with the 5000m run for the women and then the men at 6:40 p.m.
