Jun 15, 2021 | Baseball
In the next installment of our 2021 Summer Spotlight Series, Tulane Athletics highlights baseball's Chase Engelhard.
Â
What are your plans for this summer?
"This summer, I'll be playing summer ball in the West Coast League in Bend, Oregon. I'm really just looking to take this opportunity to just work on my craft and get better for next season."
Â
How has your experience out West been so far this year?
"It's been really good. I just got out here on Saturday, but the weather has been unreal, the scenery has been great with the mountains. The city of Bend is just a really cool place. Everything in the West Coast League has been great so far."
Â
What is the biggest thing you are working on right now in the West Coast League?
"Right now I'm really just getting a lot of repetitions at shortstop and working on my swing."
Â
What are you most looking forward to for the start of your sophomore year in 2021-22?
"I got some great experience as a freshman I just think that is going to help a lot next season. I'm really looking forward to showing the next guys the ropes and give them my two cents so we can be even better next year. I can't wait for all of us to get back together next season because we have a lot of young guys that can really contribute. Next year should be a lot of fun."
Â
What did you like the most about your first year at Tulane?
"I really loved everything about it. Tulane provides such a great education, but there are so many other things that make it such a fun place to be everyday. I really love my teammates and coaches. As soon as I stepped on campus, it was like I had known everyone for years. Everyone is so welcoming and the weather is great."
