Tulane Women’s Golf Returns to Action at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational
Sep 19, 2021 | Women's Golf
Birmingham, AL – The Tulane University women's golf team will take part in their second tournament of the season at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at the Colbert Hills Golf Course hosted by K-State.
Â
"We're looking forward to being back in action quickly this week" head women's golf coach Stew Burke said. "We had good preparation with both competing groups and are looking forward to test ahead. The course serves as a good test of championship caliber difficulty and the field stages us against a number of the best teams in the Midwest."
Â
The starting lineup for Tulane includes redshirt junior Hannah Rose Bruxvoort, juniors Hanna Liu, Sandra Vazquez and Carlota Palacios and sophomore Cleo Liu.
Â
Bruxvoort led the way for the Green Wave last week at the Sam Golden Invitational, as she finished tied for 42nd, posting the best finish of the team.Â
Â
The event begins on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for 36 holes of continuous golf, while the final round will be held on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
Â
Part of the Tulane women's golf team will also be in action at the Hoover Invitational at the Heatherwood Golf and Country Club, hosted by the University of Alabama Birmingham. Due to extreme flooding at Hoover Country Club over the weekend, the location of the tournament has been changed to Heatherwood Golf and Country Club.Â
Â
Seeing their first action of the season will be senior Isabella Cardenas, sophomore Miriam Emmert and freshman Ruhee Pandit.
Â
"The ladies had a late course switch due to the inclement weather in Birmingham" Burke said. "Fortunately, it's a venue we have played and practiced at during our time here and I feel confident the ladies will have a nice advantage over the field. It's great to have our full roster gaining valuable tournament experience this early in the year."
Â
Monday's shotgun start is slated to begin at 9 a.m. The field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The course is par 72 and plays 5,839 yards.
