THE GREEN WAVE RETURNS HOME TO YULMAN STADIUM
- The Green Wave return to action on Saturday, as they welcome UAB to New Orleans for their first game of the season inside Yulman Stadium.Â
- The game will be aired live on ESPN+ and will kickoff at 7 p.m. CT.Â
- UAB will make its first-ever appearance at Yulman Stadium. The Green Wave have not played host to the Blazers since 2012.Â
- Tulane's last matchup against UAB came back in 2018 when the Green Wave traveled to Birmingham. In that game, Tulane suffered a 31-24 setback.
- The Green Wave will look to bounce back from their 61-21 loss at Ole Miss.Â
- Tulane also will look to remain unbeaten as the home team this season. In their home opener at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sept. 11, the Green Wave posted a 69-20 win over Morgan State.Â
FIRST AND 10
1. Tulane comes into its matchup with UAB featuring the nation's 19th-best scoring offense, averaging 41.7 points per game. Tulane's offensive unit also ranks fifth in The American.Â
2. The Green Wave defensive unit has made a name for themselves this season, ranking third in the American Athletic Conference in turnovers gained. Tulane's defense also leads the AAC in tackles for loss, averaging 8.0 TFL's per game. Â
3. Tulane has won its last four non-conference matchups inside Yulman Stadium.Â
4. Last week against Ole Miss, freshman quarterback Michael Pratt threw for a pair touchdown passes against the Rebels. Pratt has thrown for a touchdown pass in every college game he has played in since making his debut in 2020 (13 straight games). He currently has 27 career touchdown passes and has cracked into the program's all-time Top 10 in career touchdown passes (he is currently tied for ninth all-time).Â
5. Tulane posted 69 points two weeks ago against Morgan State. The Green Wave have now surpassed 30-or-more points in 10 of their last 13 games, dating back to last season.Â
6. The Green Wave's 69 points against Morgan State were the second-highest total in week two among teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
7. The Green Wave have surpassed 200 yards rushing in 16 of their last 28 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season. Tulane led the American in rushing yards per game last year, averaging 217.1 per game. Last week against Ole Miss, Tulane was limited to 139 yards on the ground.Â
8. Tulane has rushed for over 100 yards or more as a team in 67 of its last 68 games. Tulane had its 56-game streak of rushing for at least 100 yards as a team snapped at Houston back on Oct. 8, 2020. Â
9. Tulane's special teams rank second in the nation in net punting (47.6 yards per game). The Green Wave lead the nation in punt return defense, holding teams to a -9.00 yards per return.Â
10. Tulane was one of just 15 FBS teams to play 12 or more games in 2020 (no games were canceled and team activities were never paused during the season).

SCOUTING UAB
- UAB rolled passed North Texas last week 40-6 in its league opener and improved to 2-1 on the year.Â
- Since returning to action in 2017, UAB has won 36 games - the most of any Conference USA team during that span.Â
- The Blazers are the first C-USA team in league history to win their division three years in a row.Â
- UAB was picked to win the West Division of Conference USA for the fourth straight year in the preseason.Â
- Quarterback Dylan Hopkins and tight end Gerrit Prince had career nights at North Texas in leading UAB to its 40-6 victory.Â
- Hopkins finished the game 6-of-7 for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while Prince had three catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns.Â
- Hopkins set career highs for both passing yards and touchdowns.
- UAB concluded the 2020 season with three straight road games and has opened the 2021 season with four straight games away from home - making it seven straight games on the road for UAB
- The Blazers will open their brand new, state-of-the-art Protective Stadium next week against Liberty, but had to be road warriors to get there.Â
- UAB is 4-2 in those six road games, which includes winning the 2020 C-USA Championship at Marshall.
- Head coach Bill Clark coaches the Blazers. He is in his sixth season and owns a 42-23 record at UAB.
LAST TIME OUT: TULANE FALLS AT OLE MISS
- Tulane's matchup with Ole Miss was delayed for an hour and 45 minutes due to lightening in the area.
- Tulane failed to score on its first drive of the game for the first time this season.Â
- The Green Wave trailed 40-21 at the half. In the third quarter, Tulane was outscored 21-0.
- Tulane faced Ole Miss for the 72nd time in program history. The Green Wave's visit to Oxford was its first since 2012.
- Ole Miss leads the all-time series 44-28.
- Tulane junior Nick Anderson, sophomore Cam Carroll, senior Joey Claybrook, senior Jeffery Johnson and junior Will Wallace, served as the team captains.Â
- Tulane junior wide receiver Phat Watts carried the Wave of Change flag and Green Wave junior wide receiver Duece Watts carried the No. 18 flag in honor of former Tulane student-athlete Devon Walker.Â
- With the loss, Tulane head coach Willie Fritz moved to 223-109-1 all-time.Â
- Offensive starters for the Green Wave were QB Michael Pratt, WR Jaetavian Toles, WR Shae Wyatt, RB Cameron Carroll, TE Tyrick James, OL Sincere Haynesworth, OL Corey Dublin, OL Joey Claybrook, OL Rashad Green and OL Caleb Thomas.Â
- Dublin's start was the 52nd of his career. Dublin has the most starts of any player on the team.Â
- Pratt finished the game with 166 passing yards.Â
- James caught a touchdown for the second straight game. James also led the team with three receptions.Â
- Wyatt hauled in his first receiving touchdown with the Green Wave, as he scored from 39 yards out in the second quarter. Â
- Cameron Carroll scored his first rushing touchdown of the year.
- Defensive starters for the Green Wave were LB Dorian Williams, LB Nick Anderson, CB Jaylon Monroe, DB Jadon Canady, DB Larry Brooks, DB Lance Robinson, DB Macon Clark, DL JoJo Dorceus, DL Eric Hicks, DL Darius Hodges and DL Jeffrey Johnson.Â
- Clark finished the game with a career-high 12 tackles.
- Hodges picked up his sack of the season. He also added another tackle for loss, as he finished the game with 8.0 tackles.Â
- For the third straight game, Tulane's defense created a turnover which led to a touchdown.Â
- Linebacker Kevin Henry tallied 9.0 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.Â
- Anderson forced a fumble and Williams recovered a fumble.Â
- As a team, Tulane finished the game with 8.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.Â
- Ryan Wright punted eight times for 366 yards (45.8 average). He also dropped a pair of punts inside the 20-yard line.Â
- Merek Glover missed his only field goal attempt of the game, but he did connect on three extra points. Glover now has 309 career points which ranks third all-time. Needs just 25 more points to surpass Seth Marler as the program's all-time leader in career points.Â

A LOOK AHEAD AT THE 2021 SCHEDULE
- The Green Wave's schedule includes non-conference matchups against Oklahoma (Sept. 4), Morgan State (Sept. 11), Ole Miss (Sept. 17) and UAB (Sept. 25). Tulane also will welcome league opponents Houston (Oct. 7), Cincinnati (Oct. 30), Tulsa (Nov. 13) and USF (Nov. 20).Â
- Tulane's 2021 schedule is currently tied for the 38th toughest schedule among teams from the FBS.Â
WELCOME TO UPTOWN
- Following Tulane's final regular season game of the year against Memphis in 2020, the Green Wave welcomed three new coaches to their staff.Â
- Chip Long was named offensive coordinator and replaced Will Hall, who was named the head coach at the University of Southern Miss. Long arrives at Tulane following a year as an offensive analyst at the University of Tennessee. Prior to his time at Tennessee he spent three years at the University of Notre Dame, as the Fighting Irish offensive coordinator.Â
- The Green Wave welcomed back Chris Hampton, as the team's new defensive coordinator.  Hampton spent the 2020 regular season at Duke University.Â
- Tulane also welcomed Chris Watt, as the team's new offensive line coach. Watt spent 2020 at Notre Dame.Â
MR SEPTEMBER
- Now in his 29th year as a head coach, Willie Fritz has coached in 105 games in the month of September.
- In those 105 games, Fritz's teams have posted a mark of 74-31.
- In addition, Fritz's teams have tallied a perfect mark in the month of September on eight separate occasions
35 EQUALS WINS
- Under Coach Fritz, the Green Wave have scored over 35 points in 24 games. Tulane is 21-3 in those games.Â
- The Olive and Blue scored exactly 38 points in last three of their last six games in 2020, all of which were wins. Tulane scored 35+ in three straight games against FBS opponents for only the second time in Fritz's tenure. The Green Wave achieved the feat last season in wins over Houston, Army and UConn in 2019.Â
GETTING DEFENSIVE
- Tulane has continued its trend of putting pressure on the opposing offense, averaging an AAC-best 8.0 tackles for loss per game.
- On Sept. 11 versus Morgan State, Tulane tallied 6.0 sacks and 10.0 tackles for loss.
- Last week against Ole Miss, the Green Wave registered 8.0 tackles for loss. Â
- The Green Wave finished the 2020 campaign first in the American Athletic Conference as a team with 36.0 sacks.Â
- The Green Wave defense held strong up front all of last season. The unit ranked fifth in FBS and first in the AAC in tackles for loss per game at 8.5.
- Tulane's defensive attack pushed opposing offenses back 405 yards.
