
Volleyball Drops a Conference Matchup with Houston in Four

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane Volleyball battled hard but dropped the third conference match to Houston. The match finialed 3-1, with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 20-25 on Wednesday from Avron B. Fogelman Arena inside the Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave started electric but couldn't hold on. With the loss, Tulane moves it record to 9-6 and 2-1 in conference play. The Olive and Blue hit .188 in the match with 53 kills, 47 assists and 66 digs.
Lexie Douglas led Tulane with her most productive offensive match of the season. The outside hitter claimed a season high 15 kills and hit .244. She added 17.5 points tonight, another season high. Five players had six or more kills, Yvette Burcescu, Anna Davis, Kayla Dinkins, Michelle Urquhart and Douglas.
Setter Taylor Henigsman finished with 38 assists and 14 digs. With those numbers Henigsman claimed her third double doubles of the season, all of which have come in conference play. Douglas also walks away from the match with a double double, her first of the season.
Douglas led Tulane in the first set, as she finished with four kills and 4.5 points. The efforts were close, but the Wave pulled out front in the end, 25-23. Tulane hit .275 with 16 kills in the frame.
Sets two and three weren't behind the Wave, as they were out hit in both matches. These two were the slowest of the Tulane offense all night. Through, the Green Wave only collected 27 kills and were held to right over a .200 hitting percentage.
The final set didn't start off as aggressive as the three before however, the Green Wave never gave in. The set went final at 25-20 which summed up the match 3-1 Cougars.
The Green Wave return to action Friday Oct. 1 in Philadelphia as they take on the Owls of Temple, first set starts at 6 P.M. and will be aired on ESPN+.
