Volleyball Takes a 3-1 Win Over Temple

PHILADELPHIA- Tulane Volleyball picked up a 3-1 win over the Temple Owls (25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21) Friday on the road. With the win, Tulane improves to 3-1 in conference play and 10-6 overall while also winning their fourth straight match against Temple.
The Green Wave came out aggressive and never relented. The Wave hit .279 in the match with 59 kills, 56 assists and 56 digs. Three players had double digit kills in the match for the Wave: Anna Davis, Lexie Douglas and Michelle Urquhart.
Davis has powered Tulane for most of conference play, and that was no different tonight. She ended the night with 13 kills while hitting .524. and adding three digs and three blocks in her 16.5 points.
Douglas followed suit with 13 kills of her own and hit .273. The outside hitter came close to a double-double, ending the night with eight digs. Urquhart collected 12 kills, seven digs and 15.5 points.
Setter Taylor Henigsman set 51 assists in the match, a season high and just shy of her career high of 54.
Tulane trailed for most of the first set, only holding the lead for a total of four serves. The Wave, however, strung together 12 kills and two aces to win the set 25-23. The second set was anyone's for the taking, as the lead changed 12 times before Tulane wound up with a 25-22 advantage.
The third set was the only of the four that didn't go to the Olive and Blue. The Wave were their own enemy in this set, as four attacking errors, two ball handling errors and a service error proved to be costly. The 25-21 set victory by Temple forced the fourth set.
The Wave scored first in the fourth set and never trailed. After 14 kills and three aces, Yvette Burcescu earned a 25-21 set win with a kill that also locked up another victory for the Wave.
The Green Wave return to action on Oct. 8 against USF in Tampa. First serve is set for 6 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN+.
