NEW ORLEANS – Tulane swimming and diving heads to Atlanta this Friday to take on Georgia Tech and Arkansas in their final meet of the regular season. The action begins at 1 p.m. inside the McAuley Aquatic Center.
"As we come into the last few weeks before our Conference championships, we will use this meet as a chance to sharpen our racing and technical skills," head coach Leah Stancil said. "Georgia Tech and Arkansas will give us one more opportunity to compete against high-level teams."
The Green Wave looks to continue their dominance in multiple races this weekend after putting up seven first-place finishes in Houston last weekend.
Sophomore Danielle Titus has taken first in every meet this season in the 100-yard backstroke. Titus also has taken first in the 200-yard backstroke five times this season, including clocking her career-best time at 1:57.46.
Noa Heron and Lilly Byrne have been consistent for the Green Wave in the 1000-yard and 500-yard free, always finding the podium while trading off first-place finishes throughout the year.
In diving, Paige McKenzie had a record-breaking weekend in Houston, finishing in second earning an overall score of 304.50, a career-best and a new Tulane record.
Mya Drost-Parra, Iza Pelka, Christiana Williams and Gianna Spremullo have also been consistent podium finishers this season in their respective races.
"As we wrap up the regular season it makes me think back over a fairly wild season," diving coach John Sirmon. "From hurricane Ida to Covid to pool availability the season has been full of starts and stops but the divers have done a great job rolling with the punches. Coming off a great performance last week I'm looking to see consistency from the divers this week. It's going to be a big meet on the dive side of things with the addition of Miami so making sure we can have the same level of performance in a much different setting is going to be the trick for a good day.
