Oct 14, 2022 | Sailing
Â
Â"We're looking forward to a really tough but exciting weekend of competition. The ACC Final is a showcase of the top 18 teams in the nation, and is the most competitive regatta of the season before our National Championship in May at the same venue.Â
The past few weeks have been a great training environment, and I know the ladies are looking forward to leaving it all out there this weekend. "
- Head Coach Charles Higgins
Tulane will race on the waters of Mascoma Lake in the 31st Captain Hurst Bowl regatta hosted by Dartmouth. The Wave will compete among 15 teams in three divisions. The starting lineup that will take to the water for the Green Wave will feature Thad Lettsome and Alex Makoid in the A Division, Peter Foley and Hope Breslin in the B Division, and Quinn Keenan and Essie Clifton in the C Division. John Wood and Raquel Shulman will also be available as alternates.
Â
"This weekend is a great opportunity for the team, as we'll get to see some of the top teams from New England.Â
Some of our typical starters on the coed side are getting a much-needed weekend off, which provides a tremendous opportunity for some of our other team members to get some valuable experience at this level.Â
This group has been working hard and training well, and I am confident they'll have an impressive weekend all around. "
- Head Coach Charles Higgins
In the Women's Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championship Finals, the Green Wave will race among 18 teams in Kings Point, New York. Tulane will compete in the regatta with skippers Caroline Benson, Mia Hanes, and Ciara Rodriguez-Horan leading the way alongside crews Catherine Anderson, Abigail Borggaard, Lydia Brown, Megan Cassidy, and Ellie Spearman.
Â
In the first fall Sailing World College Rankings, Tulane was picked fourth in the Open poll and eighth in the Women's poll.
Results will be posted for the 31st Captain Hurst Bowl HERE and the Women's Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championship Finals HERE following each day of racing.
