Kuenkler Falls in the ITA Qualifiers Round of 64

TULSA, Okla. – The journey for Tulane University Men's Tennis junior Fynn Kuenkler came to an end at the 2022 ITA Men's All-American Championships came to an end in the qualifiers round of 64 on Tuesday.
Kuenkler took the court against Herman Hoeyeraal of Arizona with a chance to advance to the round of 32 in the qualifiers oof the ITA All-American Championships hosted on the University of Tulsa campus. The Tulane junior got out to a strong start by defeating Hoeyeraal 6-4 in the first set to take the early lead. After dropping the second set 3-6, the Bielefeld, Germany, product battled to the end taking the third set into a tiebreak before ultimately falling 6-7 (4-7) to be eliminated in the round of 64.
During his campaign at the ITA All-American Championships, Kuenkler became the first player for the Green Wave to earn a win at the ITA All-American Championships since 2019 when Tulane was represented by four players in the singles main draw (Ewan Moore, Dane Esses, Luis Erlenbusch, Hamish Stewart).
Kuenkler and the rest of the Green Wave will be back in action at the ITA Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from October 13-17.
