Green Wave Faces First Road Test at South Alabama Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball will hit the road for the first time this season as it visits South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, on Thursday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Jaguars is set for 7 p.m.

This marks the 23rd all-time meeting between Tulane and South Alabama. The Wave trails the series 10-12 against the Jaguars but is riding a two-game win streak in the series. In the last meeting Tulane defeated South Alabama 86-53 last season on November 20, 2021, in New Orleans. The Green Wave is 4-7 on the road against the Jaguars with wins in each of the last three matchups in Mobile, Alabama, including a 77-73 victory on December 1, 2020.
Entering her 29th year at the helm of the Green Wave, head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 6-1 record against South Alabama. Tulane is undefeated against the Jaguars in three trips to Mobile during Stockton's tenure in Uptown.

Tulane is coming off a 61-72 loss at home against Alabama last Thursday, November 10. Two players scored double-digits for the Green Wave in the contest with Irina Parau notching her career-high with 14 points followed by Kyren Whittington with 12. Marta Galic has paced the Wave through the first two games of the season as she leads the team in points (14.0) and rebounds (9.0) per game. Following her performance in the opening week, Galic was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

South Alabama is coming off a 53-71 loss on the road to New Orleans on Monday. Three players scored in double figures for the Jaguars in the contest with forward Kiana Anderson leading the team with 14 points. Freshman guard Kelsey Thompson leads South Alabama in points (12.7) and rebounds (7.0) through the first three games of the season. The Jaguars are 1-0 at home so far this season with a victory in the season-opener against Spring Hill on November 7.

Following the matchup with the Jaguars, Tulane will return to Uptown to host Sam Houston on Sunday, November 20.
