Whittington Named to Weekly AAC Honor Roll

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball redshirt sophomore Kyren Whittington was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday by the league office.

Whittington earned the selection after leading the Green Wave to a 2-0 week with wins over South Alabama and Sam Houston. The Folsom, Louisiana, native averaged 21 points on 66.7 percent shooting from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. She also tallied 2.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1.5 assists in the two contests.

In the first road game of the season for Tulane, Whittington led all scorers with 19 points against South Alabama. She scored all 19 of her points in the first half while shooting 72.7 percent from the field and adding three steals on the defensive end of the floor. On Sunday, Whittington paced the game in scoring again as she finished with a game-high 23 points against Sam Houston. She also pulled down four rebounds in the win over the Bearkats.

The Green Wave will be back in action from Cancun, Mexico, for the Cancun Challenge on Thursday and Friday. Tulane will face Northern Iowa on Thursday and Centra Michigan on Friday with both matchups set to tipoff at 8 p.m. CT.
