Forbes Electrifies Green Wave’s Offense with Season-High Shooting Percentage in a Win Over ULM
Nov 28, 2022 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane improved their record to 5-2 after a 75-60 victory against ULM on Monday night in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Junior Jaylen Forbes led the team with 26 points and his highest shooting percentage of the season.
Forbes went 8-14 at .571 from the field and an even .500 going 6-12 from beyond the arc. He also tagged on seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Three other members of the Green Wave scored in double figures with Jalen Cook dropping 14 points and dishing out eight assists. Sion James and Kevin Cross both had 12 points on the night. Cross also added on nine rebounds while James had five.
The Green Wave got off to a slow start, down 8-17 eight minutes into the first half. A trio of three pointers would spark the beginning a 14-0 run for Tulane, taking the lead 22-17. Thanks to the hot hand of Forbes, who scored 19 in the first half, Tulane would head into the locker room up 11, 35-24.
Tulane drew first blood in the second half with a deep three from James. They led by 16 before ULM made a run that cut the lead to five – the closest margin of the half - with just over eight minutes to play.
The Green Wave answered by extending their lead once and for all, scoring 17 points while a scrappy defense held ULM to eight thanks to junior Cross, who spear-headed the defense with seven defensive rebounds in the Tulane victory.
