Dec 2, 2022 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Men's Tennis head coach Mark Booras announced the team's final schedule for the upcoming 2023 spring season on Friday. The schedule will feature matches against 14 teams that finished in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings Top 75 after last spring.
The Green Wave will play six matches against either a Big 12 or Southeastern Conference opponent. The Wave will also square off against five teams from the American Athletic Conference.
The home schedule for Tulane will feature nine total matches including six of those being against teams that finished ranked last spring. All home matches for the Green Wave will be played at City Park Tennis Center.
The Wave will have 11 matches away from home this season including competing in the Blue Gray Invitational and the San Diego Invitational.
The 2023 AAC Conference Championships are scheduled for April 20-22 in Orlando, Florida. The NCAA Men's Tennis Championships will also take place in Orlando at the USTA National Campus in May.
The season will get underway with a home match on January 20 against Furman.
In February, Tulane will take to the road for its next four matches and the Blue Gray Invitational. The month will start with three-straight matches against SEC opponents. First the Wave visits Mississippi to face Ole Miss in Oxford on February 3 and Mississippi State in Starkville on February 5. Tulane will then battle in-state, SEC foe LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on February 11. Next, the Green Wave will face Rice on the road in Houston on February 18 before finishing the month at the Blue Gray Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama, February 24-25.
Tulane will return to New Orleans for the first half of March with six home matches. The Wave will host a doubleheader against in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette and Alcorn State on March 3. The homestand will continue with Middle Tennessee (March 5), Florida Gulf Coast (March 9), Auburn (March 12), and Nicholls State (March 12).
To round out the month of March the Green Wave will head to San Diego, California, for the San Diego Invitational (March 17-19) before wrapping up in Oklahoma with matches at Tulsa (March 24) and at Oklahoma State (March 26).
The road work for the Wave will continue into the month of April with matches against SMU (April 1) and South Florida (April 3) in Tampa, Florida, and a match against UCF (April 5) in Orlando, Florida.
The Green Wave will conclude the regular season with a pair of home matches. First, Tulane will host Bayou State rival LSU on April 10 before hosting Memphis on April 15 for its final regular season match.
Tulane returns all eight letterwinners from a spring 2022 season in which the Green Wave finished 7-15. Junior Fynn Kuenkler highlights those returners after he finished the fall season ranked No. 87 in the NCAA Division I Men's ITA Collegiate Tennis National Singles Rankings.
