
Track and Field Heads to Birmingham For AAC Championships

BIRMINGHAM - The Tulane University indoor track & field team is heading to the American Athletic Conference Championship event this weekend at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
The championship events will be aired live on ESPN+. This will be the first AAC Indoor Championship since the 2018-19 season where Tulane finished 9th.
The first event is on Friday at 9:00 a.m. CST. The Saturday action kicks off at 9:00 a.m.
Tulane has 19 athletes competing in 14 different events.
The University of Houston has dominated the competition recently, with the men winning six straight and the women winning two in a row.
Tulane has been on a break from competing since February 11th when the team battled it out at the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston and the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
At the Howie Ryan Invitational, sprinters Kyah Loyd and Kristen O'Handley finished first and second in the 60m hurdles. Aldriana Dupree won the 60m dash with a 7.47. Later in the day, Loyd and Dupree finished one-two in the 200m dash. Tulane also won the women's 4x400 meter relay, edging out Houston Baptist by 0.26 seconds.
