
Tulane Beach Volleyball Goes 3-1 in Season Opener

RESULTSÂ
NEW ORLEANS — Tulane beach volleyball went 1-1 on the day to finish up competition in the Green Wave Invitational at the White Sands Volleyball Courts on Saturday.
Tulane dropped their morning matchup to No. 5 LSU 4-1, but swept Nicholls 5-0 in the afternoon. The Green Wave finished the tournament 3-1, with team victories over Spring Hill College, No. 17 Georgia State and Nicholls.
Holding their own against the No.5 ranked Tigers, Tulane had four of their five pairs go into three sets with the in-state rival. Tulane's top pair of Kendall Peters and Maddie Speicher took the Tiger's into three sets, going 21-16, 26-28, 15-10. They would get the only point for Tulane over LSU.
Tulane fared better in the afternoon, getting their second sweep over the tournament by taking Nicholls 5-0.
Savka Popovic and Haley Gibson paired up and made it look easy as they took their match 21-3, 21-3.
Josie Cole and Sam Green would need an extra set to put away Nicholl's fourth pair. They would take the first set 21-15, before dropping the second 14-21. The girls rallied in the third set to take the match at 15-10.
The duo of Ashton Mares and Sara Hall also made easy work of their competition, taking the match in two sets 21-10, 21-5.
Samantha Mehlman and Lara Torruella teamed up on court two and took their match 21-12, 21-17.
Tulane top pair of Peters and Speicher would grab their fourth match victory of the tournament, defeating every opponent they faced. They would take Nicholls 23-21, 21-13 to round out a full weekend of competition.
