No. 20 Beach Volleyball Heads to Gulf Shores for March to May Tournament

New Orleans - No. 20 Tulane beach volleyball (11-2) heads to Gulf Shores, Alabama this weekend to take part in the March to May tournament hosted by UAB.

The Wave will face six opponents, five of which are ranked in the AVCA poll. No. 13 ranked Georgia State will be Tulane's first opponent of the weekend at 8 a.m, followed by UAB at 1 p.m. Saturday at 11 a.m. will be a matchup versus No. 4 Florida State followed by a 5 p.m. matchup versus the No. 1 overall UCLA Bruins. Sunday will be just as tough with a 11 a.m. matchup with No. 7 Grand Canyon University and a 2 p.m. match versus No. 15 ranked South Carolina.

This is the second time this season the Green Wave has matched up with the No. 13 Panthers having beat the 3-2 in their home openers on Feb. 25. Pairs Kendall Peters and Maddie Speicher, Sara Hall and Ashton Mares and Savka Popvic and Haley Gibson secured the three points for Tulane.

This is also the second time matching up against UAB having welcomed them to New Orleans last weekend with a 3-2 victory.

Tulane has met No.4 Florida State 14 times and has yet to take a single match. The Seminoles sit 9-2 this season.

No. 1 UCLA holds a 3-0 record over the Green Wave with its most recent win coming on Feb. 29, 2020. The Bruins currently sits at 9-0 on the year with seven of those wins coming against ranked opponents.

The Wave has a 1-2 record versus No. 7 GCU and dropped its last two meetings 2-3.

Capping of the tournament is a matchup with No. 15 South Carolina who holds a 10-2 record over Tulane.
