Tulane Hits the Podium Eight Times On the Second Day of the Louisiana Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. - Sophomore Kate Sander highlighted the final day of the 2022 Louisiana Classic for Tulane as she finished first in the women's pole vault on Saturday inside the Cajuns Track Facility at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The Green Wave found the podium eight times in seven different events on the day.
Sander posted a final height of 3.80m in the women's pole vault to walk away with the top spot in the event. Fellow Greenies Megan Fitzgerald and Kristina Leggas finished in fifth and sixth in the pole vault ending at 3.70m. Nastja Modic also posted a top 10 finish in the event with a final height of 3.40m.
Tulane landed a pair on the podium in the women's 1500-meter run as Macy Turcotte finished second with a time of 4:39.377 and Victoria Robinson finished third with a final time of 4:41.770.
In the women's triple jump, Kara Steele came in second place with her best jump being 12.28m. Jing Ren was just shy of finding the podium in the event as well placing fourth with a top jump of 11.89m.
Running in the women's 200-meter dash, senior Aldriana Dupree found the podium with a third-place finish with a time of 24.57. Green Wave teammate Kyah Loyd posted a top 10 finish running a time of 24.67 to finish seventh.
Therese Olshanski landed on the podium in the 800-meter run for the Green Wave by finishing third with a time of 2:15.97.
Loyd improved on her top 10 finish in the 200-meter dash by recording a time of 13.94 in the women's 100-meter hurdles to land third in the event.
The Tulane women's 4x100 meter relay team also posted a podium finish by landing in third place. Dupree, Loyd, Oneke Gwan and Hunter Robinson made up the team for the Green Wave to finish with a time of 46.30.
On the men's side of the event, five athletes posted personal bests in their events. Bethwel Tum (4:08.702), Ian Valdez (4:12.847), Adam Aldahair (4:13.158), Iker Yturralde (4:22.236) and Jamie Polakoff (4:15.705) each ran their best time in the 1500-meter run. Meanwhile, Arturs Lapins posted his best time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.04.
