Tulane Men’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 54 Central Florida

NEW ORLEANS – In another match against a ranked opponent the No. 58 Tulane University men's tennis fell to No. 54 Central Florida 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at City Park Tennis Center. The Green Wave was on the cusp of winning the doubles point against the Knights, but the point fell to UCF which led the momentum pushing against the Wave in the match as the Knights clinched the win in singles play.
With the loss, Tulane falls to 7-12 on the season and drops to 4-6 in home matches this year.
After Central Florida picked up the first win in doubles play on court two, the pairings of Charlie Barry and Benji Jacobson and Luc Hoeijmans and Rafael de Alba battled in tight matches on courts one and three. Hoeijmans and de Alba were tied 5-5, but the final two points of the match went to the Knights as UCF claimed the doubles point.
The Green Wave attempted to battle back and shift the momentum in its favor in singles play, but the first three points decided on the singles courts went to UCF. With the overall match clinched in favor of the Knights, Luka Petrovic delivered the lone win of the day for the Wave picking up a two-set win on court three 6-4, 6-4.
Up next, the Green Wave will host No. 47 Florida Atlantic in New Orleans on Friday, April 8. The match between Tulane and the Owls is set for 3 p.m. CT at City Park Tennis Center.
