
Track & Field Shine in Four Separate Competitions

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University outdoor track & field team competed in a quartet of competitions this weekend including the Drake Relays, the Memphis Invitational, the Kip Janvrin Open, and the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational.
The Wave took home 11 podiums and 39 top ten finishes across the four meets in a successful weekend.
MEMPHIS INVITATIONAL
Outdoor track & field was back in the Billy J. Murphy Athletics Center last weekend as the University of Memphis hosted its first outdoor meet since 2018.
The Green Wave took four podiums and 19 top ten finishes in the meet.
The Green Wave dominated the 100m hurdles as three teammates all finished in the top five. Kyah Loyd took second with a 13.74, Margot Temines took third with a 14.33, and Kaia Todd finished fifth, running a 14.92.
Oneke Gwan claimed a podium in the 400m as she finished second with a 57.27 second race.
The men's 4x100m relay team finished in third place with a 43.21.
TJ Huggins finished fifth in the 100m dash, posting an impressive 10.82 second time.
Abigail Heck took fifth in the 800m with a 2:24.95.
Megan Fitzgerald and Nastja Modic tied for fourth place in the high jump, recording 3.78m jumps each.
Maren Butler was fifth in the shot put (13.63m) and the discus (42.63m).
DRAKE RELAYS
The Green Wave were in Des Moines to participate in the Drake Relays from Thursday to Saturday inside Drake Stadium.
The Drake Relays is one of the most historic events in outdoor track & field and has been going on since 1910.
Freshman Janae Dean finished ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:11.34. Her teammate Victoria Robinson finished 12th with a time of 2:12.24.
Kara Steele finished sixth in the triple jump with a 12.51m leap.
Redshirt athlete Mackenzie Callahan competed unattached in the 3000m steeplechase and finished seventh with a 10:30.70. While it won't go in the record books, this would be the second fastest time all-time for Green Wave athlete.
KIP JANVRIN OPEN
Tulane athletes will be competing in the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa hosted by Simpson College this Friday.
The Wave took two podiums and four top ten finishes at the meet.
Victoria Robinson and Janae Dean finished first and second in the 800m. Robinson ran a 2:11.37 and Dean ran a 2:12.32.
MIKE MCMILLAN TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL
The fourth competition featured Tulane athletes this weekend was the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational hosted by Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.
Tulane claimed five podiums and 14 top ten finishes in Clinton.
Freshman Kiland Harrison won the 100m dash as he logged the fastest time by a Green Wave athlete this season at 10.34 seconds.
Junior Jing Ren won the long jump as she recorded a personal best 5.93-meter leap.
Maren Butler won the shot put with a 14.53-meter toss.
Freshman Matthew Remondet finished second in the javelin with a personal best throw of 47.85m.
Seniors Aldriana Dupree and Kyah Loyd went three-four in the 100m dash, notching times of 12.09 and 12.10 seconds respectively.
Oneke Gwan finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 25.05 seconds.
