
Groff Named to the ABCA South All-Region First Team

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University right fielder Ethan Groff was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association South All-Region First Team on Wednesday after posting a breakout 2022 campaign for the Green Wave.

ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America Teams will be announced Friday morning, prior to the start of the 2022 NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

Tulane's 2022 offensive leader made 39 starts in his 41 appearances. He finished the year with a .404 batting average, marking a .212 improvement from the 2021 season. The sophomore tabbed a .709 slugging percentage, collecting 35 RBI with nine home runs and a league-leading 15 doubles. In the field, he collected 72 putouts with only a single error on the season. He had a team-leading 17 multi-hit games, including five hits in Tulane's 23-1 victory at Southeastern on March 1. Groff reached base in 38 games in 2022 before being sidelined for the rest of the season after an injury in late April.
