NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University volleyball team opens conference play at home on Wednesday with Houston. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena Inside the Devlin Fieldhouse.
THE MATCHUPS
- Tulane and Houston meet for the first time this season. The Wave dropped two matches to both the Cougars and the Bearcats in the 2021 season. Tulane holds an 18-36 record in the series all-time against Houston and a 4-31 all-time record against Cincinnati.
- Tulane was picked seventh in 2022 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, returning only five from the 2021 season. While the two competitors this weekend were picked to finish second (Houston) and third (Cincinnati) in the league.
- Mackenzie Martin leads the team with 122 kills in 11 matches this season.
- Kayla Kaiser leads the team with 19 total blocks in 11 matches this season.
- Tulane owns the AAC fifth best hitting percentage at .218.
- Tulane is sixth in the AAC in kills with 517, averaging 12.31 a set.
- The Green Wave is third as a team in service aces (AAC) with 67, an average of 1.60 aces a set.
- Kaiser is first on the roster and third in the AAC in total aces with 16.
- The team total of 604 digs lands Tulane at fourth in the AAC and average of 14.38.
- Van Houten leads the team with three double-doubles so far this season.
