Women’s Tennis Off to Hot Start at the Samford Invitational
Sep 23, 2022 | Women's Tennis
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Tulane University women's tennis team opened its 2022 fall slate with an impressive performance on the first day at the Samford Invitational, posting a 12-1 record.
"Extremely proud of the way the team competed today," head coach Maria Brito said. "They have been preparing the right way and they are trusting the process. You normally have a lot of nerves with your first tournament, but everyone handled it very well. Tomorrow will be another opportunity to keep getting better."
The Green Wave doubles pairings set the tone for the day, each earning a victory, including Cora Barber who teamed with Caraline Scheufler from South Alabama.
The success in doubles action carried over to the singles courts as the Wave went 8-1 against players from UAB and the host school, Samford.
Tulane will return to the courts in Birmingham tomorrow for the second day of competition.
