Sep 30, 2022 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Sailing will look to continue its strong start to its 2022 fall campaign as it travels to the northeast for a pair of regattas on Saturday and Sunday. The Green Wave will send a women's team to Providence, Rhode Island, for the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1 while a COED squad will head to New London, Connecticut, to compete in the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race for Tulane.
Â
"Going into our first weekend of national competition is always exciting," head coach Charles Higgins said. "And I know the team is well prepared to go out and put together a solid weekend."
Â
The Green Wave will be among 18 teams competing in the Women's ACC Round 1, hosted by Brown. The duo of Ciara Rodriguez-Horan and Lydia Brown will lead Tulane in the A Division while the pairing of Caroline Benson and Ellie Spearman will race in the B Division.
"Our experience at these venues will help us feel comfortable, but we know we need to go execute like we know we're capable of in order to put together a solid result in the end," Higgins said.
In the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race hosted by the Coast Guard Academy, Tulane will race among 20 teams. The Green Wave will be led by Cameron Giblin alongside Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez in the A Division and Asher Zittrer with Gillian Perrell racing in the B Division.
Results will be posted for the Women's ACC Round 1Â HEREÂ and the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race HEREÂ following each day of racing.
