
Men's Basketball Welcomes Top Ranked Houston to Uptown

1. This is the first time the No.1 overall team has been in New Orleans since Memphis on 2/20/08 (L, 71-97).
2. Tulane won its fifth straight AAC game on 1/14/23 vs. UCF, making it the first time they have accomplished that feat since joining the AAC.
3. Jaylen Forbes continues to lead the team in scoring after dropping 31 points versus SMU and 27 points vs UCF last week. He averages 23.5 ppg in conference play and 19.2 ppg overall.
4. Tulane has the highest scoring offense in the AAC averaging 87.8 ppg in conference play and 81.9 ppg on the season. The Green Wave has scored 90+ five times this season, three of those coming in conference play.
5. Tulane is second in the country in free throw percentage shooting 82.1 percent from the charity stripe. Jaylen Forbes leads the team and the AAC shooting 91.7 percent.Â
TULANE BY THE NUMBERS
272 – Tulane has made at least one 3-point field goal in 272 consecutive games. The last time the Green Wave failed to do so came on Jan. 16, 2014 at home against Louisiana Tech when they went 0-for-14 from outside.
90 – Tulane has scored 90+ five times this season which is more than the last two seasons combined. The last time the Green Wave scored 100 was in 2017, when they scored 102 versus LIU Brooklynn.
82.1 – Tulane is shooting 82.1 percent from the line which is on track to be the best team average ever for a Tulane team.
17 - Jaylen Forbes is the only Tulane player to record double-digit scoring figures in all 17Â games this season. His season high of 31 points came at SMU on 1/11/23.Â
10 - Sion James has scored in the double digits 10 times so far this season, the sophomore totaled six double digit games last season. James's career high of 30 points came versus Memphis on 1/1/23.
8.5 - Tulane is averaging 8.5 more points per game than last season.
7 – Head coach Ron Hunter is seven wins away from 500 in his career.
1 - Tulane currently has the top ranked scoring offense in the league averaging 81.9 points per game.
THE OPPONENT – HOUSTON
• Houston is the only AAC team Ron Hunter has yet to beat as the Tulane head coach.
• Houston's last in conference loss was to Memphis on 3/6/22 in Memphis losing 61-75.
• The Cougars pulled out a 83-77 win over USF on 1/10/23 thanks to a 31 point effort by Marcus Sasser, a career high for him. Â
• Houston returned to a No.1 ranking for a fourth week this season playing just once last week, a six point win over USF.
A WIN VERSUS HOUSTON
• Tulane would get its first win against a ranked opponent since defeating No.25 NC State 73-62 on 12/22/99.
• Ron Hunter would be 6 wins away from 500 in his career.
• Tulane would get its ninth home win of the season, tying its total from last season.

• Tulane is currently 303-369 from the free throw line (.821) which is trending towards the program's highest single-season percentage since 1967-68 when the team shot 528-of-692 (.763) at the charity stripe.
• Three Green Wave players are currently shooting over .800 from the line - Jaylen Forbes (.917), Jalen Cook (.895) and Kevin Cross (.838).
