Quotes from Head Coach Mark Booras
It was a good start for us. Furman brought a really good group of guys. I know they were a couple of guys short with injuries. They competed really well.
I was pleased with how our guys responded. We put a solid team in this first match because we really want to be pushed from the beginning (of the season). We saw that today where we were challenged at every position. In doubles, they took it to us and were sharper than we were. They were a little smarter, a little bigger and we watched a little bit. They were going after their shots and trusting what they were doing so we learned a little bit about our doubles there.
In singles, we responded well. That's one of the things we've talked about with this group of guys: you might win or lose a doubles point, but how are you going to respond after each situation? It's the same thing with every point we play. You have to reset and recover. I was very pleased with how the guys carried themselves on the court today in the middle of a nice battle.
