
Green Wave Lands Eighth & 11th in Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing finished another weekend on the regatta with a top-10 finish in one of two road regattas on Sunday. The Green Wave ended the weekend eighth in the Nevins Trophy Open Fleet Race and 11th at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship.

After only two races were sailed in each division on the first day of the Nevins Trophy Open Fleet Race, Tulane used the eight races completed on Sunday to climb from 12th to eighth in the standings with 173 total points.

Skippers Zander King and Matheo Capasso raced with crew Brady Starck in the final eight races in the B Division to lead the Wave to third place with 62 points in the division. Over in the A Division, Tulane ended 12th with 111 points behind the racing of skipper Kelly Holthus with crew Cate Anderson on Sunday.

At the Women's ACC Championship eight complete rotation were finished on Sunday as the Wave dropped from ninth overall to 11th with 252 total points.

The combination of skipper Mia Hanes with crew Abigail Borggaard and skipper Caroline Benson with crew Ellie Spearman led the way for Tulane by finishing ninth in the B Division with 121 points. Skipper Sammie Gardner and crew Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez ended the regatta with 131 points to land 12th in the A Division.
