The Green Wave is Set to Host Charlotte

The Green Wave volleyball team (4-18) will be back at home Friday when they host the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (9-13)Â at 6:00 PM.
Game Notes:
This Past Weekend Versus UTSA.
Tulane hosted AAC West rival, Wichita State, this past Friday and Saturday.
The Green Wave fell in both matches, 3-0 and 3-1.
In Friday's match, Tulane was led offensively by freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks. Burks finished the match with 10 kills. Sophomore, Mackenzie Mahr, finished the match with six kills, one shy of her career best.
Middle-blocker Sabrina Skyers finished the match with two solo blocks and one assisted block which led the Green Wave's defensive front.
In Saturday's match, the Green Wave had a third-set comeback attempt but came up short in the fourth set.
The Tulane offense was led, again, by freshman outside hitter, Avery Burks. Burks finished the match with 10 kills. Following closely behind was sophomore right-side hitter, Katherine Crosley. The Austin, TX native finished the match with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
The Green Wave's defensive front was led by redshirt sophomore, Ilayda Demirtas and sophomore Mackenzie Mahr. Demirtas finished the match with four assisted blocks and Mahr finished the match with three assisted blocks and one solo block.
Statistics:
Tulane remains top 5 in the conference defensively. They currently sit in fifth place in blocks per set averaging 2.40 and fourth place in digs per set averaging 15.82.
The defensive front is led by middle blocker Sabrina Skyers and libero Lauryn Burrows. Skyers finds herself third in the AAC in blocks per set averaging 1.17. Burrows second in the AAC for digs per set with 4.57.
Burks is the go-to contributor to Tulane's offensive effort. The freshman currently sits at 5th in the AAC in kills per set averaging 3.36.
Charlotte Matchup:
Charlotte is 9-13 so far this season. The 49ers have two conference wins over Memphis which places them 6th in AAC East and 12th overall.
Charlotte is one of the many newcomers to join the American Athletic Conference. Tulane, however, does have some history with the 49ers as former Conference-USA foes.
Tulane leads the series record, 12-5 with their last meeting being in 2015.
